Healthy Use of the Internet

About the Project

Since 2011, the Education Bureau (EDB) has commissioned the Hong Kong Family Welfare Society (HKFWS) to provide support services on promoting e-safety to teachers, students and parents of all primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong. This year, aligning with the theme of Safer Internet Day (Together for a Better Internet), the HKFWS will launch a series of student activities and support services under the “Together for a Better Internet” Campaign, including:

 

Service content:
a) One-stop telephone and online support and counselling services
b) A series of related student activities
c) Useful information released regularly at https://healthynet.hk

Project period:
Ongoing since 2011.

Program Content

 

a) On-going telephone and online support services for parents, teachers and students

Duty social workers and hotline counselors provide advice and counseling services about net safety to parents, students and teachers through the hotline and WhatsApp. See below for more infrmation:

Service hour : Monday to Saturday (except public holiday)

b) Students’ activities on playing my part for a better Internet

Target: students of primary and secondary schools

A series of activities will be arranged to encourage students to develop a healthy habit in using the Internet. HKFWS will inform schools of the events through letters and webpage (http://www.healthynet.hk). The first activity is to let students share their good (Angel Doggy) and bad (Devil Kitty) experiences regarding the use of the Internet.
